Girls Lacrosse is the “number one growth” girl’s youth sport in the country and New Jersey has one of largest participation rates.  The Devils Lacrosse Club promotes lacrosse for girls in grades K-8 who are residents of the Hunterdon Central Regional High School sending district and girls who reside just outside the district, who do not have local lacrosse programs.  Girls ranging from no experience to those who are veterans are welcome and encouraged to play with Devils Lacrosse Club.  Our goal is to instill a love of the game of lacrosse through a solid foundation of skills, positive coaching and competitive games.

The Devils Lacrosse Club girl’s program is a member of the Jersey Girls Lacrosse Association (JGLA), the New Jersey branch of US Lacrosse. We are in Conference F and play games against our conference opponents and attend 3-4 tournaments throughout the spring season.

We strive to provide each player the appropriate age and skill level of coaching instruction; we seek to build a player’s confidence in learning lacrosse skills; we aspire to develop a sense of teamwork and fair play. We honor the game by respecting the rules, our opponents, officials, our teammates and ourselves. As a club we aim to develop character values that will benefit today’s players in later years and in other endeavors. Players will learn the value of teamwork, determination, and commitment, and HAVE FUN playing lacrosse.

As ac club we divide teams based on JGLA and US Lacrosse standards.  This means the Devils Lacrosse Club will field the following teams: 7th/8th grade, 5th/6th grade, 3rd/4th grade and K through 2nd.

Practice and Games

Grades 3 through 8

Team practices will begin in March for grades 3 through 8 with practice happening 3 to 4 times per week.  Weekday practice/games will take place from 6 to dark while Saturday practice and games can be anytime.

Kindergarten through 2nd Grade

Our K-2 team will begin practicing in late March or Early April, as the weather becomes more suitable for our younger players. K-2 will meet on two days per week and will offer a blend of skill development and scrimmages weekly.  Games may be played starting in May, attempts will be made to schedule 3 to 4 games.  There may also be a chance for the group to attend 1 tournament.

This K- 2 program is designed for girls new to lacrosse and will introduce lacrosse fundamentals - including throwing and catching, ground balls, shuttles, basic rules and field positions. Each player will need to provide her own mouth guard. Lacrosse sticks and eye protection will be available, in limited supply, or the player can bring her own. Practices will be outside, so players should dress for the weather and bring a water bottle to each practice. Shoes with rubber cleats are helpful but not required.

Commitment

All players will be expected to attend all games and practices during the season.  Players should only register if lacrosse can be their highest priority for after school activities.

For more information on commitment see “Player Commitment” and “Code of Conduct”

If your daughter has a known conflict, please contact Marc Stetson at   prior to registering.

Location

The Devils Lacrosse Club will use a combination of locations throughout the season to best serve our players and families.  Practices and home games will take place at either JP Case, Raritan Flemington Middle or Copper Hill schools.  Grades 3 through 8 will travel to opponent’s locations for away games as scheduled.
